Description
The Immédiate Transatlantique is the result of a Franco-American adventure. Created in collaboration with Bulova, Beyond the Dial and Semper & Adhuc, this limited edition model with a touch of Swiss quality celebrates another aspect of watchmaking history: the spread of know-how on a global scale.
It all begins with an early Bulova movement, which was developed in Switzerland between the 1940s and 1970s, then completed and assembled in the brand’s home country, the United States. Decades later, this same movement, acquired and restored by the French workshop Semper & Adhuc, became the heart of a new cushion-shaped watch with a blue, white and red dial.
THE MOVEMENT:
Developed since 1936 from the healthy and well-proven architecture of the Swiss AS 1012 movements and derivatives, the Bulova 5 series of movements (respectively 5AB, 5AC, 5AD, 5AF, 5AH, 5AN, 5AR, 5AZ, 5BA, 5BC and 5BD) evolved from year to year until the mid 1970s. They are found in many different configurations, ranging from 18,000 vib/h to 21,600 vib/h and bearing between 17 and 23 jewels depending on the reference. Often coming from melts, these movements were stripped when the owners wished to recover the precious materials of the case, to create a new jewel or to get the pecuniary value. Today, we combine them with new parts in timeless creations.
THE WATCH CASE:
Cushion shaped, the watch case of the “Immédiate” is made in satin finish stainless steel 316L. It is built in two parts clipsed together : the middle watch case and the caseback. The caseback is engraved and openworked with an eyecup which lets partially oversee the wheelworks under the case. Its small sizing, contained in only 37mm, reminds that of the ancient watches, yet more sober and equally fitting women or men wrists.
THE WATCH CROWN:
Our crown is engraved with the logo of the brand and has a partial notching on 240°. Its orientation, at the right or the left of the watch case depends entirely on the desire of the owner.
THE DIAL:
Blue, white and red like the colors of the French flag, yes but also common to the American flag. The two ways of reading the time are underlined in red, reflecting and celebrating our differences. Thus, the Immédiate Transatlantique highlights a voyaging, multicultural watchmaking, in the colors of the countries that have dared to enrich it with their treasures.
THE HANDS:
With their “Stick” shape, they bear a refinement and finesse that links us softly to the present time.
THE WATCHBAND:
For their manufacturing, the Semper & Adhuc workshop has chosen to work in partnership with a leather craftsman from Bordeaux, Mr. Vincent Jacquinot. All the leathers used are of french origin, specifically selected for our watches, so that we could offer a range of high quality, which traceability is controllable.
THE LUXURY CASKET:
The caskets are made of machined cork and decorated with golden heated cardboard. The watch is held in its secure position thanks to a smart japanese clip. You will also find with your time keeper its instruction manual, as well as the certificate of international guarantee. The necessary tool to change your bracelet will also be included.
